A leading global multi-strat fund is seeking a Database Engineer to join its Platform Team based in New York. This role focuses on building a scalable and secure data platform that supports a diverse set of technologies including SQL Server, Snowflake, and PostgreSQL.
Key Responsibilities
• Platform Engineering: Design and implement a cohesive database platform using technologies like Trino and S3.
• Automation & Optimization: Automate database operations with Python and optimize hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
• Infrastructure & DevOps: Deploy databases using Docker and Kubernetes, apply SRE practices, and manage infrastructure with Terraform.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Lead HA/DR strategy across platforms to ensure reliability and business continuity.
• Monitoring & Support: Implement proactive monitoring and participate in on-call rotations.
• Culture & Collaboration: Promote innovation, continuous learning, and cross-functional teamwork
Qualifications
• 7+ years of experience with enterprise-grade databases.
• Deep expertise in SQL Server or PostgreSQL (and willingness to master both).
• Strong Python skills for scripting and automation.
• Experience with Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Trino, and S3.
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow, dbt, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Terraform.
• Bonus: Experience with Kafka, ClickHouse, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki, PowerBI, or Tableau.
